I am the dean at a middle school in Long Island City, NY. We are working on developing our positive behavior intervention system. We are focusing on improving behavior and communication within the school community through positive motivation and interactions.
The students are awarded points daily for exhibiting the positive values set for them on our school matrix.
The students are then able to use those points to get prizes from our school store. We are looking for prizes that will motivate the students to work hard and behave appropriately.
My Project
We are in the process of initiating the PBIS program in my school. The purpose of the program is to positively motivate the students to behave appropriately and interact with each other in respectful ways. In order for the program to be successful we need rewards that are meaningful to them. Our goal is to show the students that good choices lead to positive experiences.
We are trying to find prizes that will motivate our students and give them something to work for.
The students love playing games and sports and because of this we are trying to incorporate them into our program.
