Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My middle school students are a fun, lively, and diverse group of students. I teach 6,7,8 Small Group Special Education-English Language Development. So all of my students have an IEP eligibility and are identified language learners.
The area that I work and live in is a lower-income area so my school is considered a Title I.
This means that all of the students at my school receive a free breakfast and lunch every day, and sadly this may be their only food source. Many people ask why I choose to work in such a "rough" area, but I always tell them that this is MY COMMUNITY. I live and work here. All students no matter how much money their parents make, their background, their race, etc all deserve to have someone who loves and cares for them.
I want to be able to provide a strong education to the students in this area so they have as many opportunities, as possible, in their lives to be successful.
My students inspire me everyday and deserve more than I can give them. Please help me support these wonderful students.
My Project
My district has been 100% online this year due to the pandemic. This has been hard on all students, parents, and teachers.
My students have been so dedicated and hardworking during online learning.
Online learning is not easy for anyone, especially students with an IEP who are also Language Learners.
This has been so hard on them, but I am impressed by their dedication and perseverance. I want to reward the students who continue to push through the challenges of online learning and motivate the students who are struggling to keep working hard.
Students who are meeting their educational goals will be entered to win a gift card. At the end of the day, I want all of my students to be successful and if they are working to meet their educational goals while doing their personal best they deserve something special!
