Ms. Snow from Houston TX is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students 6 separate buses for 6 Orchestra performance opportunities in the Houston community this year. These opportunities to hear professionals and perform in Houston are essential to string players' growth as young performers.

These students study the violin, viola, cello or bass as part of an inner city program for underprivileged, disadvantaged students in America's second largest school district. These orchestra students are talented and hard-working and grateful for the opportunities given. The students in 2nd through 5th grade choose an instrument from the school to rent for free or a minimal yearly fee, if they are able. They meet at school three days a week for instruction on their instrument and quickly advance as young musicians.
Our Title 1, 75% underprivileged 3-5th grade students play in one of HISD’s most accomplished Orchestras. This year, through budget cuts, we have no budget for the Orchestra—supplies or field trips. Without the opportunity to perform around Houston, these musicians will not grow into the strong performers they should, and can, be.
I have lined up 6 field trip opportunities for them to perform throughout the year in our community.
We will “Carol” at Levy Park, share music with working Houstonians “Downtown,” attend two renowned String festivals, and observe “Orchestration in Action” at a local performance of “Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang.”
I can transport the 50 students in the performing Orchestra and up to 10 chaperones on one bus for $200/field trip. If this project is funded, it will all the Orchestra 6 separate bused trips this school year! This will possibly be these students’ first time to see a musical or play in a real performance hall before seeing the Symphony play. Please help me provide these meaningful experiences to these deserving youth.
