Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Prekindergarten and serve children 3 to 5 years old. All my children are at different level of developmental milestones. They are from different ethnic background and speak different languages. Most of my students are dual language learners and learning English at school.
My students also come from families who are low income, and represent many different racial and ethnic backgrounds.
These families are unable to provide essential learning supplies and also can not print lessons home. Having a color printer and a laminator in my classroom will help me print lessons and worksheets to send them home. I would also like to send some visual home as visuals help children learn if they speak a language other than English.
My Project
This year is full of challenges and one of them is teaching children in visual classroom. It becomes necessary to provide them with essential material and supplies to support their learning from home. For example, if I teach a lesson they need printouts to carry their learning forward.
Most of my students are from Low income families and parents do not have supplies to print things at home.
Having a printer and laminator would help me create lesson worksheets and visual for children. Worksheets would help them practice a lesson which is taught in the visual classroom.
