Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm currently teaching bilingual and general education, first graders and kindergarten. Most of them are struggling readers and writers. My students are in a poverty neighborhood, but that doesn't keep them from moving forward in education. They work hard and give their best every day.
They love to learn, and the challenges that come with learning.
We are in a low-income school, and teaching dual language. The difficulties we face are finding resources in both languages. Most classrooms lack hands-on resources. The younger they are the more active and messy it can be. Help us make it fun and enjoyable.
My Project
Most of the students are learning how to read and write. We are reading our sight words and making sentences. We would like for our work to stand out with pastel colors and laminating our work to save it for years to come as a memory.
Color always brightens their day and work!
Sight word flashcards on color paper will make it more fun and interesting to practice memorization of them. We will laminate them to help make them last longer.
When it is time for them to write and publish their work it will also be on color paper and laminated.
