Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! As a middle school art teacher, many of my students are being exposed to art for the first time. These students are excited to see what they can make and where their creativity can take them. Those that have had art before are looking for new and enriching experiences to develop their skills while those that are new to art are excited to experiment with new materials.
In order to keep students interested in the arts, we must give them the opportunity to set their creativity free and express themselves in a variety of ways.
Many of the students I work with come from low-income families that are unable to purchase art materials for the home. My art class is their opportunity to experience these materials and develop their expressive and creative sides.
My Project
With distance learning my students have access to limited art making supplies at home. There are not many materials that can be sent home that students have room to work with.
These oil pastels will help my students broaden their art skills in the limited space they have available.
Students have been craving new experiences and this will allow for them to experiment with a new medium and more bright and vibrant color choices. They will be able to practice new techniques to enhance their art making abilities in this distance learning setting.
