Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How can we teach young students to develop a sense of purpose and passion toward their education? How can we make sure they aren't afraid to fail and allow them to go deep into the material? I want to use the requested supplies to create meaningful tasks that are an extension of student learning.
I teach kindergarten through fifth-grade gifted students at a public elementary school in Roswell, Georgia.
This is a unique school with the majority of the student population having English as a second language. Most students live with guardians who do not speak English.
These gifted kids thrive in spite of, or perhaps because of, their opportunities. Therefore, I try to use hands-on problem-solving activities to create innovative learners so their gifts can be valued, developed, and strengthened.
My Project
The Apple I Pad Pro will be used during Genius Hour when students are allowed to explore their interests and wonders so they can experience learning that they are passionate about. For example, students may use the I Pad to connect with experts in the field of their study. Also, the I Pad will be used to assist students with their projects which might include learning types of code and using them to communicate with Little Bits Steam and Coding kits and Dash and Dot Robots, using green screen technology, actions to help others in their community, creating a web page to inform others, creating a pod cast, etc. They will also become instructional leaders as they use the I Pad to share and present their projects to an authentic audience.
