Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this age of computers, many educational experiences can be presented which can make learning come alive for my students. We have a very limited supply of computers in our school. They are either outdated or broken and in need of repair.
My students are second graders in a school of almost a thousand students.
They come from multicultural backgrounds with low income families. In spite of all this, they come to school every day eager to learn. Their attention has really improved since I have been using my ELMO and multimedia projector which I received from Donors Choose. I'm sure that I can enhance their learning with a laptop hooked up with these two wonderful learning tools.
My Project
If my class were to have this laptop computer, I could attach my Elmo to it as well as my multimedia projector. I would be able to do the following activities: For reading, I could locate websites such as Reading A through Z. I could show various E books from this site to go along with other subjects such as science or social studies. For math, I would project various games from computer websites to demonstrate different objectives such as fractions and geometry. In addition, for science, I would show the web sites that includes videos which demonstrate the science experiments for each lesson.
Having a laptop computer will once again broaden the learning experiences for my students.
For reading, the characters in a story can be animated and displayed. For math, they can play games that go along with the skill being taught. For science, experiments can be seen as live from a specific website. This laptop can also be used for students to type stories. The beauty in all of this is it can be used together with the Elmo and multimedia projector!
