This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom begins with a do now to allow their brain to adjust and recall information from the previous day. They have independent reading after the do now while I work with small groups of students. We then have a vocabulary and skill lesson.
My students are very eager to learn.
They are new to the middle school setting and are still adjusting to the needs and responsibilities.
My school is considered one of the "schools in need" within our district. The student makeup is predominantly African-American with 80% or more receiving free or reduced lunch.
My Project
The students will use the new books to read and take quizzes in our school library. The books requested are part of the "Truman challenge" amongst the middle schools within our district.
I have asked for the chart stand and markers to help with my visual learners. Many students need to see things modeled before they can complete something themselves. In my classroom, the wall space is very limited making it difficult to hang anchor charts.
The smart board clicker will allow me to move around the classroom during lessons. At this time, I currently have to stand at my desk to click through presentations and notes.
By donating to this project you are helping students achieve greatness.
The clicker will allow me to move around the classroom while teaching.
The chart stand and markers will help students see examples of strong work and important information.
The books are part of a district wide reading competition that will encourage my students to participate and read.
