The best and most beautiful things in the world are in my classroom every day.
I know exactly what Helen Keller was talking about. My students come from every imaginable background with different stories to tell and experiences to share. They all deserve kindness and respect. Learning their stories as the year progresses is sometimes humorous, enlightening, mysterious, and even frightening at times. The heart is the perfect beginning to feel their stories.
My Project
The various supplemental books I am requesting are geared towards hands-on learning. The Spectrum books have activities for learners above and below the level we are in - so the Language activities will be differentiated for this 3rd grade classroom. The Word Study book is right at grade level. The Math books are for number talks and fraction fluency and that is an area that can always use a boost.
So, "Part-Part-Whole" simply means taking a part from Language Arts, and a part from Math, and creating a whole learner.
These books and companion books have been used successfully in other classrooms. These books all put it all in one place for students to focus on, which will make their lives less hectic.
