Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from southeast Houston. Most of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch. The apartments that surround the school that the majority of them live in was so devastated by Hurricane Harvey that most of my students' apartments were flooded and they needed to evacuate.
Most of my students now are living with extended family, friends, or in a shelter.
Their lives have changed drastically just within the past weeks. I want to help support them when they get to come back to school. School should be the place they feel safe and at home.
My Project
Thanks to awesome donors our class now has new technology to use for student projects. Unfortunately, we did not order all the necessary accessories to use with that technology. We have been so grateful for our classroom Mac computers. In May 2018 my students need to turn in all the technology projects created this year and subsequently the years to come. We have been working on them in the computer lab due to the lack of storage in our classroom computers. I would love to provide my students with the Airport time capsule in order for them to have easy access and more time to work on these projects in the classroom.
We need the Apple - Mac mini to save all the projects, pictures students take, scan, and/or download, onto files that they may use.
My students will be able to use Apple - SuperDrive to download and watch educational videos from DVD's or install and use educational software programs when working on projects during their math, science, and LA center time. The mouse pad, pencil, iPad cover and ear pods will be a nice touch for the children to enjoy and improve their listening and speaking skills on the iPads and laptops during their technology center time.
