My students need exercise balls, yoga mats, and other flexible seating options. Students learn better when they can move around in the classroom and have a variety of seating and moving options.
I have a wonderful group of 28 students this year! They love to work together, read, and create projects. Many come from low income and single parent homes but are always in attendance and ready to learn daily. They are motivated, respectful to one another and love to experience new ways of doing things. The students take pride in their work and love to show it off, either in the hallway or inviting others into our classroom. These and all students should have the best resources when it comes down to their education.
My Project
Many students need a variety of seating options to learn effectively. I have done some remodeling in the classroom already and the response from the students has been positive. In doing so, I have decided to move onto creating more options. For the student who can't sit still in their seat, yoga balls. To get into group work, crates that I will transform as seats and finally some more yoga mats when kids just need to lay on the floor. This will definitely make learning more effective for many students, as sitting in the same spot can make it a daily inconvenience for them.
