My students need lightning options that are not bright florescent lights to create a calm environment that reflects our flexible learning style. Additionally, cushions and exercise ball will replace/repair current flexible seating options.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Creative Options for Positive Education (COPE)/Opportunity Program at the EOC is designed for middle and high school students who have been placed on a suspended expulsion from their comprehensive school site. This program is designed to allow students with credit deficiencies the opportunity to graduate within a timely manner and build positive social/behavioral skills according to their unique needs. Each student who comes into my classroom comes from a diverse and often troubled background. They walk-in knowing the labels that the educational system has given them: "at- risk," "delinquent," or "troubled."
Everyday we work to remove those labels because my students are assets--full of potential, promise, resiliency, and the power to change and overcome the obstacles in their path.
However, they need us to champion for them and teach them to believe in themselves. I want to make sure our students know when they walk in our classroom that they are valued, that they are important, that they are safe, that they are comfortable, that they have a growth mindset and the power to grow and meet goals that they set for themselves.

My Project
Recently I had a project by the same title fully funded and several people donated to future projects for me so I would like to add to my first project to do a full classroom make over by purchasing different lighting options and materials to repair/replace current flexible seating options to continue towards our goal to revamp our entire learning environment.
As previously stated, I can not make my students motivated, but I can create a more motivating learning environment where students feel connected to their class/community, feel a sense of autonomy and choice, and feel confident that they possess the skills they need to meet school challenges.
Thanks to the generosity of those that were dedicated to helping me level the playing field for these students, transform the portable classroom picture, and give them all the benefits of a newly renovated classroom environment with flexible seating that can meet their very individual and unique needs I know we will have an exciting start to next year but these pieces will only add to that!!!
