Our student body is diverse, representing different cultures, races, religions, and socioeconomic statuses.
Our students are high-achieving 9th-12th graders who understand the value of education and are meeting requirements to attend 4 year colleges after high school.
Many will pursue careers in international settings where they will need to have control of a world language not only in speaking, reading, and writing, but also in use of technology.
Our students are learning 21st-century skills and live near Silicon Valley but at times are lacking access to appropriate technology in our public school.
The Chromebooks will be in the hands of the students to access a wealth of authentic material in the target languages. They will use them for many activities, including access to online interactive websites like Kahoot, Socrative, Conjuguemos, and Quizlet.
They will use them to create and compose their own culturally-authentic texts such as movies, websites, or songs.
Additionally, students can read children's books with audio, videotape skits to share with the class, and use the Chromebooks to work on Google docs, Google forms, Google slides, etc.
The Chromebooks will make a difference in the students' learning by giving them access to research and shared documents at their fingertips. They do not need to wait to go home to access technology before starting to compose their Powerpoint slides, movies, or essays in the target language.
