Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with bilingual students, many of them new to the country. All of them are at different stages of language progression, with the bulk of them at the beginning and emerging stages. A hundred percent of my students come from low income or no income families, and for this reason, all of them receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many parents are unable to provide school supplies, uniforms and pay for school trips.
The school provides many backpacks with school supplies. In addition, uniforms are given to the students due to the fact that they are living in shelters. The school had financial assistance for students who cannot pay to afford to pay edcuational trips. Many of my students arrive very early to school, and at dismissal wish, they could stay.
My Project
The involvement of parents in their children's education help extend teaching outside the classroom, creates a more positive experience for children and helps children perform better when they are in school.
It is essential for parents to support the learning that happens in the school settings at home as well.
For this project I am asking for a Brother Compact Laser Printer. This printer will help keep the communication and teaching accessible to parents. Many times I need to print letters, resources, standards or others to send to parents, and it is simply impossible. Our school printer many times is missing toner, or the time to leave the classroom is nonexistent.
