Parachute Madness

My Students

Students are better learners when they are able to be physically active throughout the day. Our students are encouraged how to be physically active when they are in PE. Our goal is to move, move, move!

Students are better learners when they are ....ACTIVE LEARNERS!

Our school has gone from a large 4th and 5th grade building to a K-5 learning community. We are trying to add new equipment to our long list of much needed resources for games and activities. When students attend PE, they are encouraged to become and stay physically active.

Our school has a large population of students who are free/reduced lunch. They may not have access to many of the games/activities they participate in during the school year. As PE teachers, we hope to give them a little background information about many different activities!

My Project

Our students love to use the old parachute we have during their PE class. When they see the multi-colored parachute open up, they are excited and ready to participate!

The parachute activities and games allow our students to combine loco-motor skills with different speeds and force while using the parachute.

Students can make "popcorn", trade places and make the parachute mushroom. Our current/old parachute has holes in it and we need to update to a new parachute. Students can use the parachute and learn about their right and left hands while holding on to it, colors can be reinforced as they play and students can learn about safety when using the parachute properly. The activity may be simple, but students do get a workout when using the parachute!
