I am a kindergarten teacher in a high-poverty, inner-city school in southern Indiana. Over 90% of our students qualify for free lunch. Many of my students have never attended a preschool program and are coming to school with limited academic, social, and emotional skills. Some have never even held a pencil, scissors, or glue or even recognize their name in print. These students require a lot of guidance and practice in many areas.
My goal is not only to teach my students the skills they need to be successful but make their first school experience fun and rewarding so they will develop a life-long love for learning!
My Project
I need a child friendly, reusable, effective, and fun way for my young learners to develop their reading, writing, and math skills quickly and efficiently. I'm tired of wasting paper! My students mess up, want to erase, and end up ripping their papers. Dry-erase boards get stained and markers dry out quickly.
A class set of LCD Boogie Boards would be the perfect way to meet my students' needs as well as save a tree!
Pencil and paper is boring when used day after day. Boogie Boards are an exciting way for students to display their thoughts and skills. The writing stylus is shaped like a regular pencil so students are still able to practice their grip and fine motor skills and will be excited to do so since they will want to use the boards.
