I teach seventh-grade science in a rural school. Our community is very diverse with many cultures represented. Over 80% of our children qualify and receive free or reduced-priced lunch, which means many of our children live in poverty.
We are also experiencing a growing number of families that are homeless.
Even though our children come from many disadvantaged homes, they come to school happy and so excited to learn. They know that they will leave with new knowledge every day.
Our school no longer provides us with paper that will last the whole school year. We get one box of paper for the entire year. Needless, to say we have run out and we are in desperate need of copy paper.
My students need copy paper and markers to complete assignments such as, projects and entrees in their interactive science notebooks.
Without the copy paper I will have to buy the paper, again, myself. I want my students to be able to complete their projects and their interactive notebooks and not worry if there is paper and markers to do the assignments.
