My Students
My students are resourceful , resilient and full of questions! They absolutely thrive with hands-on, active, engaging projects. They want more than anything to be successful.
Like with most children growing up in low-income areas- opportunity for academic success all to often is very elusive.
Purchasing new supplies, or school tools, can be a difficult task. With family budgets are all ready stretched thin, providing children with “extras” is impossible. These financial challenges can create roadblocks on my student’s academic journey.
With a little help we can Close the educational gap. With some simple changes in the traditional classroom, my students will have the opportunities they so richly deserve. My students want so badly to have the tools necessary to make the choice do well at their school work.
My Project
Students will use the folders, scissors and glue sticks to build interactive math and literature journals. Students fill the folders with classroom notes, and manipulative, which help complete assignments both in the classroom and at home. During instruction students can add additional notes to give a deeper understanding to the material covered.
So often my students have to complete assignments without adults help, Interactive notebooks are so empowering.
They allow students the opportunity to build problem solving strategies independent of teacher/parent input. However, This requires a lot of cutting and gluing. My students are in desperate need scissors and glue to complete these notebooks.
