Have you ever conducted a learning styles inventory? Well, I've found that most adolescents are kinesthetic learners based on the results of these tests. Kinesthetic refers to learning by using your hands. I try to incorporate this learning style into my classroom daily.
My students are seventh graders in a low income community.
They are smack dab in the middle of the transition between middle and high schools. They are beginning to develop strategies for questioning and reasoning yet still need to be guided and provided for.
My Project
My students will use this copy paper and the file folders for conducting hands-on investigations about the world around them. The file folders provide plenty of room for the students to create models, posters, and flow charts while the copy paper is used weekly if not daily to create foldable and other learning tools. These products of student learning are often displayed in the classroom and/or hallway or placed in their Interactive Science Notebooks to be used when studying for exams or end-of-the-year standardized tests.
Your donations to this project will provide my science students with the paper that they need to get them through the whole school year.
It will be so much more than copy paper to them when they learn how to manipulate, tear, fold, and glue these paper products into learning tools.
