Help me give my students writing paper, doodle boards to write and construction paper. Journal books to practice skills and colored pencils to help make writing and creating fun.
My four and five-year-old students come from a high poverty community and school. They come to school to learn, explore, and make friends. It is my responsibility to provide all these opportunities and to create an atmosphere that allows them to use their imaginations to create, explore, and practice problem-solving skills. I want their very first year in this school to be an unforgettable year that builds a strong foundation for the rest of their educational careers.
My students come from households where both parents work to make ends meet, homes where grandparents are raising their grandchildren, and single-family homes where they are dropped off at 7 am and picked up at 6pm.
Their homes are standard, not luxury ones and money is always an issue for them.
My Project
These resources will give these children the opportunity to write on paper, doodle boards, wipe out boards, and construction paper. The pencils will allow them to write and draw in color. The journals will help give the children paper assessments that can be used to show understanding of the core standards we teach in kindergarten. I would love to allow them to use the doodle boards to practice and create in a fun and creative way.
Let these children start off the new year with paper, doodle boards and construction paper to create and learn in a fun and exciting way.
