I love so many things about my students that it's hard to say just a few things. They are very active and fun; they are at an age where learning can mean so many things. I enjoy being able to interact with them and learn from them.
They teach me something new daily, and I hope that I am always able to do that for them, as well.
They keep me engaged and excited about learning, and they always help me to see things from a different viewpoint.
My students are also very independent and proud of their accomplishments. Sixth grade is a fun age, but it is a very trying age/grade when it comes to keeping students involved, engaged, and actively thinking.
My Project
Asking for chart paper may seem so basic, yet it is so powerful in our classroom. Chart paper is costly, but chart paper for 100+ students is REALLY costly. They love using it, and the fact that it's over-sized and sticky make it that much more intriguing.
Having these materials allows me to place my students into collaborative groups that can brainstorm, strategically plan, work, and present a finished product together as a team.
Students working together towards one common goal is big in my classroom; each student has a job that will help them reach that ultimate, end goal.
Another thing that something so small as chart paper can bring to my classroom is creativity. Being able to express one's thoughts via a large piece of paper can be exciting, innovative, and simply relaxing for some. I want my students to be able to express their creative sides while in my classroom.
