Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom have learning and emotional disabilities. They come from low income families, and some of them have experienced things that no child should have to.
All of the children come to school each day with a smile on their face willing and ready to dive into the lessons I planned, they even have fun!
Many of the students have difficulties in math, reading, and writing. Therefore, I needed to plan lessons that incorporated things they enjoy such as music, games, and dancing!
My Project
Some of the best ideas happen in the small moments of my day. Finding new ways to meet students needs, or create additional access to the educational concepts that I am teaching is a daily struggle. The best ideas, many times never make it into implementation in my classroom, because I have not planned far enough ahead to submit the copies to my school to get the resources I need in a time frame to be relevant to my learners. I would love to have an alternative accounted for, but sometimes it is the bright idea in the moment that helps transform a concept that seems confusing to a new understanding.
Having the flexibility of having enough paper on hand, so that I can differentiate on the spot is something that would transform my ability to teach in my classroom.
Post-Its, are a vital classroom supply. We use them them to help support students reading comprehension every day. There are never enough Post-Its to meet our classroom needs.
Velcro, is the hidden tool in my classroom that allows so many ideas come to life. Velcro boards for literacy centers, books, activities, classroom organization, and so much more.
All these supplies would allow me to make ideas become a reality for my students.
