My students need copy paper for essential materials such as guided notes, differentiated texts, and intervention worksheets. My students need chart paper and markers in order to create anchor charts that will serve as visual aids.
My students are third, fourth, and seventh graders at a public elementary and middle school in Pennsylvania. Our school is a wonderfully diverse neighborhood school. Most of the students and families we serve are economically disadvantaged and many are English Language Learners.
My students are brilliant, thoughtful, caring, and hilarious young people who come to school every day with a strong desire to learn.
As a Learning Support teacher, I work with students with learning disabilities and attention difficulties to bolster their Literacy and Math development. My students require intensive, targeted interventions in order to make growth in these subjects.
My Project
Since my students require accommodations and modifications, I often print supplementary materials such as intervention worksheets, differentiated texts for guided reading, guided notes, and behavior self-monitoring sheets. In addition, I use chart paper to create visual representations of ideas that we can hang up around the room. These "anchor charts" not only help students to remember literacy and math concepts, but serve as reminders of social-emotional concepts about how to maintain a growth mindset and work together.
While differentiating instructional materials requires time, effort, and supplies, our students benefit greatly from these supplemental materials.
Having the resources to create differentiated instructional materials and visual aids for my classroom will allow my students to grow in their literacy, math, and social-emotional learning this year.
