Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from different backgrounds and are usually low income and economically disadvantaged. They are little kids with adult-like problems being heaped on them every day. This sometimes makes for difficult transitions to school and challenging behaviors. This year I will also be teaching our dual language population which has the added challenge of learning in two languages, Spanish and English.
I want to bring a LOT of child-like joy back into my students' lives during the time they are with me.
By doing this, I provide for them a safe place to grow, learn, develop, and ask questions. Together as a class, we learn a lot socially and academically. We strive to be the best class we can be and learn how to be little learners in a BIG world!
This year the goal that will drive us is, "We are career bound!"
My Project
As a formative assessment tool, I have my students create anchor charts that show their understanding of the concepts.
The students work together using a big paper and markers to show their conceptual understanding.
They use the materials to make anchor charts that have the vocabulary, examples, and explanations needed to be able to "teach" their classmates the concepts.
Please help my students become MASTERS of their content by donating markers and big paper to our classroom. They will enjoy taking something we already do and making it more creative. We will post them in the classroom and in the hallway. The students will also use them as their anchor charts for teaching classmates every week!
