Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As the art teacher, in a high need elementary school in New York, I really want to build a top-notch arts department. The students are eager and excited about learning.
Our school is located in a high poverty area and many of our students live in the neighboring housing projects.
We always have high attendance and the students are excited to learn and explore new subjects in the arts and literacy. The students at our school may not have the same opportunities as many NY students, but there is a team of hard working teachers bridging that gap. I want the students to have a quality art education and the requested materials would help our students achieve their best artwork and develop as young artist.
My Project
Additional resources are essential to their education. I have a wonderful art room, but very few supplies. The budget is tight due to cuts in funding. I have amazing students that are eager and talented in the arts. They have a passion for art and I have been so impressed with their creativity.
Even though the students will not be using the paper cutter, I find that I am often in need of a paper cutter to prepare construction paper and drawing paper for each lesson.
I often have to size down paper for printmaking projects, mounting artwork in the hall, and basic drawing lessons. An art teacher's job is very demanding and small things, like a paper cutter, make our day easier. The paper cutter will improve the quality of their art.
