This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Pablo Picasso once said," Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." My concern is how to give my students positive, creative experiences in the art room so they came become that artist.
My students go to an elementary school in South Georgia.
All of these students, kindergarten through the fifth grade, receive free lunch and free breakfast. These students are 89% African American,6% Hispanic and 5% Caucasian. These students are also 100% on fire for art. They love creating art and they love seeing their creations on display in the school halls.
My Project
The drawing paper we so badly need will give these students the chance to draw with crayons, colored pencils and markers. They will also be able to paint. Without paper it is difficult, if not impossible to have create two-dimensional artwork. I never thought I would ever have to ask for paper for my students, but if I am going to teach art to 400 students, I need to get the paper they need.
The paper we receive through Donors Chose will enable these students to have a very basic, but meaningful art experience for the balance of the school year.
Please help these students with their paper chase.
