Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first-grade students are amazing, energetic, fun, and lovely children who have the drive to learn. They are like sponges absorbing all the information they can receive from me or anyone who presents to them. Most of my children are Spanish speaking with English as a second language. Many of the parents are only Spanish speaking.
The students come to school daily ready to learn with their friends.
They are excited to be surrounded in a safe, comfortable, cozy learning environment. I see them walk into our classroom full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I feel honored to have the responsibility to teach these amazing first graders and prepare them for the next grade.
My Project
Due to budget cuts schools are facing, teachers in my school are no longer being provided with the amount of paper needed to provide the scaffolds and differentiated worksheets that would accommodate the needs of our students. Having copy paper would allow me to print out accommodations, such as glossaries, graphic organizers, paragraph frames/sentence starters, and different leveled texts that would benefit many of my students. The pencils would be such a special treat for the students for journal writing and spelling test.
I would also like to get storage containers to keep paper and school supplies organized in the classroom.
The daily planner will help with language art and social studies planning.
