This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are fun-loving first graders who love learning and love being in school. My students are avid readers and enjoy reading with their friends. They are all well-behaved and they are very excited about learning. They are kind and caring and help each other any chance they see an opportunity! My students are happy and energetic second graders. Most of my students come from low-income families with various cultural backgrounds and languages. The classroom is where they have the opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time.
As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I know my students are faced with challenges both in and out of school.
About 5% of the students in my school are homeless and live in shelters across the city. Parents struggle to provide them with the necessities to start the school year. Even with these challenges, my students come eager to learn. They are funny, smart, and active.
My Project
Many of the students in my school come from low-income homes. Their families are facing economic hardships trying to decide whether to pay rent or other household obligations. Parents are struggling to provide food for their children. The response to COVID-19 has impacted all of us in unprecedented ways, especially my students and families.
Invest in our students and the future of Brooklyn, it will make a difference in their lives.
Our students are hard workers and they strive to do their best each and every day. Our families are facing a food shortage at this time. I would like to provide my students and their families with a variety of food items to help fill their cupboards.
I am a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child. Be a part of our village by helping me provide my students with this care package
