Ninety-six percent of our students are economically disadvantaged. Serving these students in a low economic community with little funding can be very challenging, especially when your students deserve nothing but the best. Through the dedication of our teachers, our students have persevered over the years and have shown that they are truly hard workers. Once a failing school, our school is rated a B, which makes us the highest rated school in our surrounding community. We are proud of our students and want to give them the best resources to assist them in continuing to make their huge learning gains.
My school consists of a diverse group of students, many of which come from a unique and difficult backgrounds.
Often, physical activities such as sports and interactive play, serve as an outlet for many of our students. Our physical education program teaches our students character development skills such as perseverance, cooperation and teamwork. Our students also gain lifetime fitness skills to guide them towards making healthy and smart choices to build fit bodies and fit minds.
Our basketball team is gearing up to start another exciting and competitive basketball season. Our students benefit tremendously in their involvement in this extracurricular activity. Besides the fitness and exercise that basketball provides, our team focuses on building character skills such as leadership, perseverance, and teamwork.
Your donations will assist our basketball team to be successful both on the playing field and inside the classrooms.
For many of our students, this is the first opportunity they've received to participate in competitive sports. As a vital part of our program, we hope to build a strong foundation and instill the importance of being a student first and athlete second.
