Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are passionate about reading and sharing the love of books with one another. They participate in leissurly discussions and choose high interest reading materials that will allow them to share in depth insights and differing perspectives when having conversations about the selections they make as a group. They make recommendations to their peers outside of this group and share their books as way of spreading the love of reading.

This club is dedicated to promoting the love of reading and working toward building a community that is dedicated to expanding knowledge and becoming life-long learners who work together, think together and have face-to-face interactions that are meaningful.

My Project

We are raising funds to buy reading material for our 8th Grade Book Club. In our club, we advocate for reading and literacy by having students choose high interest books each month that they read and then discuss with other members of the club.

Our book club has proven effective and productive in spreading the passion of reading.

Students within the club have given reading recommendations to students outside of the club, effectively spreading the love and appreciation of reading to others within the school community.

The materials we receive from donations will be used to read, formulate discussion questions and come together as a group to engage in indepth conversations with other peers.
