My Students

My sixth grade general music students could really use some fun and interesting projects to get them through this very strange year. They are kind, creative kids who are tired of staring at their computer screens all day. We have a full curriculum of American Music history to study but few hands on activities to go along with our study due to Covid 19 restrictions.

My Project

This project will enable my general music students to have a hands-on music making experience while learning from home AND while they are in school.

Students gain confidence from mastering a musical instrument and enjoy being able to perform for others.

Playing an instrument while studying our American Music History curriculum will allow students to play the music we study instead of just listening to examples.

When students play the music they are studying they take ownership and retain what they have learned for a long time to come.
