Pandemic Ping Pong!

Help me give my students new tables for ping pong so we can replace our broken ones and learn this sport again, which is a good pandemic sport. The catch net help student learn serving techniques.

My Students

My students are amazing students that fight difficulties of a low income high diversity demographic. I teach 600 boys, 12-15 years old, per year as well as a handful of girls in my co-ed class. My students are very active and are really amazing at participating in each of the physical education units that I teach.

These students have so much potential, they inspire me everyday and I strive to give them an education that will inspire them as well.

Unfortunately some of these kids don't see this potential because they limit themselves with what they have seen in their family.

I'm trying to give them options to stay healthy that are less orthodox and can be done during the pandemic easily.

My Project

Ping pong is a socially distanced sport that many people have access to at home or near home. For low start cost a student can take this sport and play immediately. I already store a lot of ping pong equipment but cannot teach it because we don't have enough functioning tables available. This is a sport that is played in a lot of cultures as well and helps students experience new ways to move without as much contact. Ping pong encourages hand eye coordination that can easily be applied to other sports.
