All of my students are visually impaired or blind. All of our students qualify for the free lunch program. Some are learning braille as a precaution. Some are braille dependent. Some have more sight but still struggle with visual issues.
My students are all so thankful for anything that someone does for them.
They are truly my sunshine and remind me to appreciate life. We often make lessons from the project materials in addition to doing kind things for others. As a result, kindness spreads throughout our school and community.
Our students are attending on a hybrid schedule. Since some do not get to see their friends as often, we are starting a pen pal project. They will write letters as part of their lessons. The letters will be printed, disinfected and proofread. They will be sent to other students within the building.
This is necessary to fulfill the student's sense of belonging.
They seem to have higher emotional needs after being home so long and some having illness within their family. This is a way that they can connect to friends and make school more fun. It also teaches children to be more accepting of others with different learning needs.
