This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students come from an economically disadvantaged background with 71% receiving free or reduced-price lunch. My students' test scores are still below the state's average. However, they are improving at a significant rate. The school media center needs books and supplies to enrich students' learning and promote lifelong readers, which will, in turn, help every aspect of their school learning.
Our school strives to ensure every student succeeds, and the media center is an integral part of their individual and group success.
I work directly with teachers to enhance classroom lessons. Upon funding, my project will be ongoing and benefit every class in the school through active media center lessons.
My Project
Our school media center is used constantly, which means it is constantly having little bits of paper and other materials dropped on the floor. It is a great problem to have, but it can be a problem at times. Our wonderful custodial staff cannot possibly vacuum it nightly, or even weekly sometimes due to the amount of other work they have. I would like to get a robotic vacuum clean to do the work for us! With a clean media center, students can focus on learning and reading, instead of trash on the floor. This will benefit every student, teacher, and parent in the school! I'm asking for a Ecovac, which has good suction for our low pile carpets, and excellent ratings for stability.
