Our population is very diverse. We have many nationalities, cultures, and abilities. We are a Title I school in a very low-income community, where most children receive free lunch. We have an in-depth special education program, a gifted and talented program and a dual language program. My computer lab is used by students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.
An elementary school classroom is like no other place in the world.
It is a home for little ones for six hours a day. Teachers not only provide an education in math, reading, and other school subjects, they provide stability, love, acceptance, and support for amazing little people. Teachers educate the whole child. Personally, I strive to teach values, love, and acceptance in my room, as well.
My Project
The excitement in the room was amazing! You can't imagine the wonder and awe... over pancakes? Yes, pancakes! Thanks to amazing donors at DonorsChoose.org, our computer room recently received a PancakeBot pancake printer. Yes, it makes real pancakes! Students can draw on the computer with the pancakemaker software, then watch their drawing come to life in a real, edible pancake! I wish I could show you a picture! After our first experience, we realized we need spatulas for flip the pancakes, dishes to eat out of, soap to wash the machine at school, paper towel to clean up, and oh yes, more pancake mix! These items will ensure more students will have the amazing experience of printing in 3D, edible pancake mix and getting to taste them too!
My students will never forget the day the teacher served them their very own pancake that they created on a computer screen, and then ate!
Thank you for reading our project! We can't wait to see what we will create, and eat, next!
