This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach high school at an independent study charter school. Our mission and vision are for students to take ownership of their own learning and to be life-long learners. We do this through personalized learning, using the community as the classroom, and flexible learning.

My students come to our school because the traditional public school was not meeting their needs.

By coming to our school, they have opportunities to take college classes and have an internship. Our classroom is really like a family!

My Project

Pear Deck is a Google Add-on that turns Google Slides into an interactive learning tool. With the information I receive from Pear Deck, I can modify my teaching on the fly so I can address the misconceptions of my students. This not only ensures that every student has a voice in class, but it also ensures every student is participating. Also, Pear Deck has a wonderful feature that allows me to analyze students' responses even after our interactive lesson. Pear Deck emphasizes higher-order thinking and allows students to learn from each other!
