Every day, 20 amazing kids walk through the door of my Kindergarten classroom. I teach in a school that is considered high poverty in a suburb outside of Buffalo. Kindergarten is such a crucial age for developmental problem solving skills to form. It is also a time in a child's life that being given time to play and explore can make all the difference in their lives. Many of the children in my classroom do not have many materials to play with outside of school. I strive to provide them with anything that they may enjoy while it teaches them important skills as well.
My Project
My Kindergarten students are in need of Kwikstix paint sticks and paper as well as watercolor paint pallets. I would put these materials to use every day in the classroom during Reading centers for activities such and name writing, sight word writing, learning the alphabet, etc. During play time, the children would be able to use these materials to draw, color, paint and create! Kwikstix are also great for the classroom because they are easy to use and clean up! Many of my students come from homes that do not have Art materials readily available to them. They would be so grateful to be able to express their creativity during learning.
