In our Pre-K program in Saint Paul, MN, we ensure high quality education for children the year before kindergarten to prepare our littlest learners for school success. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes the opportunity to learn and thrive as they build their school readiness skills. My goal is to give students the social-emotional and academic tools to prepare for kindergarten.
In pre-K, we are exploring ways to create and express ourselves every day!
In a classroom full of 4- and 5-year olds, active learning (choice) time is when students develop skills including self-expression, cooperative play, independence and task commitment at school. I want my students to be competent and self-sufficient students as they move into kindergarten - and most importantly I want them to LOVE learning!
My Project
Pre-K students paint every day! Paint gallons are needed to continue making beautiful paintings that will be on display in our classroom, our school hallways and in students' homes. Our paints are almost gone and we need to replenish our supply.
Pre-K students will be using these supplies to create, express themselves and paint original works of art!
Self-expression is such an important component of a Pre-K program, as students are learning about themselves and others around them. The art center is the most popular area of our classroom during our active learning (choice) blocks each day.
My students showcase so much pride, growth and learning through their artwork. They absolutely love to paint and create!
