Welcome to the Ladybug classroom...The spot for eighteen energetic, loving, and delightful Pre-Kinders plus two teachers who just love them bunches! Together we form a school family that works together to grow and develop through play-based learning and teaching, the way young children learn best.
Although it looks like we’re just playing, my little learners are engaged in structured activities to teach specific skills and knowledge.
Through participation in these positive play-based learning experiences, my students develop their ability to get along with others, learn cognitive and language strategies, and acquire the building blocks for a strong foundation for school success. Such a playful approach to learning builds on my children’s interests and responds to their ideas for play while making happier people who continue to love playing and learning.
The art center is one of the most popular centers in an early childhood classroom and painting at an easel is a huge hit in this area. There are no rules when it comes to painting and no determined products, making painting the best kind of art for a young child. Children engage in the process and paint what impresses them the most at the moment without any adult rules or directions. Although it's messy, it's purposeful and an important part of education in PreK.
Learning to paint at an easel sparks a child's imagination and provides rich opportunities to learn science, math, language, and creative art.
It also uses both sides of the brain, building a stronger brain, gives them critical thinking skills, and a place to express emotions. My project "Painting is FUN-damental" would allow my PreKinders to go paint whenever the mood strikes them and will not only support development, but also be a joyful experience at the same time - And that's a masterpiece!
