I am a visual arts teacher at a wonderful school that is a kindergarten through second-grade school for the second year. My students are sweet, curious and challenging at times, but there's no place I'd rather be than with my art classes.
My students love to "give back," and we do many community and global projects throughout the year to teach acceptance and kindness, such as blankets for animals at the Humane Society, The Memory Project and participating in Peace Day.
We have several ideas this year to spread some love and will begin working on blankets and toys after the holidays..
I have taught art classes for 17 years; ten years at this school. I love every minute of it. Our staff is nurturing, highly qualified and we care deeply about our students.
I try to find unusual projects and ideas that are different than the average things you see at schools. From clay gingerbread men and doggy bone ornaments to dinosaurs hatching from eggs and paper houses, my students create remarkable masterpieces.
My Project
My art students love to paint.
I want to introduce them to Inchie painting which is painting multiple, tiny canvases at one time.
I am requesting enough small canvas panels to paint with one hundred and fifty students.
There is a theme and the colors chosen are complementary. Inchie paintings tell a story and students will combine literacy and writing with art.
We will begin with one inch by one inch canvas panels and progress to ten inch by ten inch panels.
I think the students will like this medium and will produce incredible masterpieces. We appreciate any help you can give.
