Painting in Layers

Help me give my students the experience of working with Art Resin and a butane torch to create layered three-dimensional paintings. My students have discovered artists working with this medium and have been wanting to try it for themselves.

My Students

My students come from a variety of socio-economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds. This diversity allows the art classroom to think creatively about how we approach learning and the creation of artwork.

My high school students work in a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behaviors) setting which allows them to work in small groups exploring personal interests in art.

Students still maintain high expectations while also demonstrating personal growth in their connection to art.

My Project

I teach in a suburban community and serve approximately 90 students a semester. While we have a decent budget, it does not allow my students to experiment in all the areas that they would like to experience.

Art Resin and a butane torch will allow us to experiment with creating multi-layered paintings with a 3-D effect.

They discovered this process and style through social media and artists like Marc Scheff. Social media allows my students to be exposed to contemporary artists.

I believe in supporting my students in whatever direction they want to pursue, and these materials will allow them to follow a new path.
