This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach third grade students at a large Title 1 School located in Louisiana. Not only do we have students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade attending, we also have the largest SPED population in our district. We provide 100% free breakfast & lunch programs to all students. My students come from many different cultural backgrounds as well as family situations.
Many of the students I teach have experienced some of life's difficulties at the young age of eight years old.
My top priority in my classroom is to create a safe haven for my students full of exploration, fun, fairness, and most importantly the equal opportunity to learn!
My Project
We are near the end of the school year and are in preparation for testing season. My third grade students have been hard at work all year long. It is time for some self reflection and soothing of testing jitters. What a great time it is to implement some painting into our curriculum.
Please consider helping my students express their artistic side this season of Spring.
I have so many artistic children in my classroom this year. I wish I was able to provide more outlets for them beyond crayons and markers. I truly believe having the ability to paint with watercolors will open their minds to art. I cannot wait to see them express themselves while painting.
