My students need some fun glazes to work with. I teach Ceramics to k-5 students. I think my students will love seeing what chemical reactions happen to these glazes.
My class consists of 2D and 3D art. I try to give them as many different opportunities in visual art as possible. We start off with drawing and painting, then we use clay, and lastly my students get to weave!
We have a very diverse population.
Some of our students live in a highly affluent area, while others are below poverty level. Our school strives to give every student the same opportunities knowing that many of our students come from homes where even basic needs are not always met. I have over 960 students who rotate through my class. All of them are eager to use clay especially. Because of their eagerness, they are positive and helpful to each other.
My Project
My students have been glazing their ceramic ware ever since kindergarten. They love to see the color and how shiny their sculpture is when removed from the kiln. My students have never used a glaze with the addition of crystals in contrasting colors.
Students will be amazed by the effect these glazes will make with their sculptures!
No two pieces will ever be alike. I can't wait to see their reactions!
You'll also notice a clay slicer in my list, that's so I will be able to cut nice even slab tiles for some of my projects. I tend to cut them a little wobbly without some help!
