The art room is a place where students can get creative and be themselves. Our students are what makes our art program so grand and we want to continue helping these students progress in the art field.
Many students here at our school have tough obstacles to overcome; being able to thrive on their creativity is what keeps them coming back to the art room.
With over 52% of our students in the free and reduced lunch program, our school is in one of the poorest counties in the state. The situations and home lives that these students must endure doesn't hold them back from achieving their goals and neither should their classroom.
Although my classroom library is quite small, I want it to be a place for my students to enjoy! These books will serve many purposes. I'm excited to use them to help create lesson plans, enhance the creative classroom I strive for, and allow me to offer books for students to choose from when they finish projects early. My students are excited to read. Every student book that is in my library is treated with care. All have been chosen with my students and future projects in-mind.
Not only will the books allow them to make a connection with a story they enjoy but they will inspire them to create fun and new projects.
While enhancing their reading skills, I am introducing them to new material with the illustrations. Books are a doorway into a whole new world of creativity.
