Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 3 to 5 years old with a variety of special needs. They come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and enter my classroom with a variety of experiences. They go to school on an elementary public school campus in Southern California.
My students are wonderful, sweet, and affectionate.
Each one is as unique as their special needs. My students deserve the best the world has to offer and, with your help, I want to give it to them!
My Project
Painting is a big part of the little dreamer life. Painting is much more than a simple activity. It is a way for different types of children to express themselves in their own special way. Painting also helps children use their senses, express emotion, explore process and outcomes, explore color, and create aesthetically pleasing works and experiences.
Apart from being tons of fun, painting helps aesthetic development, fine motor skills, expressing and learning emotions, self expression and speech.
Many of the motions involved in making art, such as holding a paintbrush or scribbling with a crayon, are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children. For very young children, making art—or just talking about it—provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes and actions. When kids are encouraged to express themselves and take risks in creating art, they develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.
