Art is everywhere. I teach the children about famous artists and their techniques and the children love it! I teach all subjects to third graders, but twice a week I switch classes with my colleague to teach art and history to two third grade classes. After learning about each artist, I have the students try and emulate them using different media, learning different techniques and styles. We also look at art through a historical perspective. Many times I have them demonstrate their knowledge of our history lesson by painting a historically correct scene. For example, I divide the class up into different historical eras. The different groups of kids are responsible for painting a scene from one of the following eras: 1800's, 1849, 1942, 2006 considering transportation, clothing, available supplies, available land vs housing, food, and toys. The children not only learn about historical times through artists, but are able to teach others about history through their art. I have water colors, colored pencils, and other media to help them in their endeavor. However, I would love to have them also use Terra Cotta Markers as well. These markers are easy to manipulate to create the perfect artwork. Our funds are very limited, and I can not afford them without help. I was hoping to get enough markers for both classes. We could use them on terra cotta pots, wood, plaster statues, styrofoam, paper, and walls. Thank you for considering my proposal.
