My students are part of the modern media communications magnet program. We specialize in integrating 21st-century skills within our math and science curriculum. One project we are working on is kid blogging and publishing student work into text. With a diverse magnet population, our sixth grade team serves students from East, South North and West Los Angeles. We are excited to partner with local media industries in our community to help bring learning to life. Through relevant programming, children are challenged and engaged to participate in written, and oral communication.

My Project
Coming back to school has been awesome! However, we are in need of a few medical and hygiene supplies. My classroom has ZERO pads and tampons. The students do not have access to these items in the girls restroom, and have to walk across campus for emergency situations when in need of a pad or tampon. This is not a close walk, the 6th grade buildings are nestled in the far corner of campus. I am hoping to make classroom kits for our 6th grade teachers so that students that need an emergency pad or tampon can have access to it immediately. I am also in search of bandaids. I was given a small kit for my classroom and I have already run out of all sizes of bandaids. I would appreciate pack of bandaids so that I can offer students appropriate care when they are injured. If all boxes of bandaids are donated, I can make kits for the 6th grade teachers to keep in their rooms.
Health and medical items like tampons, pads and band aids SHOULD be in every classroom.
I would like to provide my students with necessary items to feel safe, and comfortable in class. Being able to access essential items like this will improve the health of our kids in the classroom.
