Padding Our Love Of Reading With iPads

Help me give my students technology, confidence, and a love of learning! These iPads will be used for reading, coding, and building excitement!

My Project

My classroom and school are very diverse in population. I have students that come to school hungry and students who come to school ready to share their lunch. They are the sweetest class with the biggest hearts despite their lives at home being so different. These differences don’t define them, but their educational gaps are beginning to separate them. I have students reading at a 1st grade level while others are reading at an 8th grade level. By far, I have more students reading below grade level then students reading at or above. These students struggle daily to keep up with our reading passages and curriculum. Their confidence and pride are taking a hit because they can’t keep up.

Having iPads in the room to use in small group, at centers, and during independent work would give these students the opportunity to be successful and engaged in their learning.

There are so many apps that they can download from Epic to Seesaw that will allow them to practice and build new reading skills. Technology is not something these students have at home, and they would be thrilled to have the opportunity to use the iPads in the classroom. This opportunity would allow them to grow their reading skills as well as learn coding and other STEM activities.

As a teacher, the iPads would allow me to differentiate my lessons so that I can meet each student exactly where they are at. I believe every child can be successful if they are given the proper tools in their toolbox and all students need different tools. Technology, confidence, and a love of learning is my goal with your project donation. I completed my Apple Teacher education certification through Apple in so that I can best serve my students with your generous gift.
