All the students at my school deserve the best! I have some really amazing, dynamic second graders. That’s why I have decided to go to third grade with them. I have nine designated English Language learners. Aren't all eight year olds learning English? My students have a ton of personality. The most amazing thing about this year's class is that they are the most polite kids I have ever taught. This group of students are incredible and deserve the best learning opportunities.
I work at a Title I school in Los Angeles.
That means a large portion of our population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch because of their socio-economic status. We are an environmental studies school.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are things my students may not have access to at home. In other words, some of my students do not have access to technology or WiFi. So we need your help in getting them ready for their futures! We will use the iPads for accessing our literacy program Benchmark Advanced and our math EngageNY. The covers will be used so that my students know how to keep our materials nice. We are not a one on one technology school, so having 5 iPads will really help us access the curriculum. My students will use the iPads to get ready for state testing, by taking online assessments. They will be able to read books at a variety of text levels. They will be able to take reading comprehension and vocabulary quizzes on Accelerated Reader. They will use the iPads to gain mastery in math while using the math app, Dreambox.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in an authentic, meaningful way.
By implementing the use of iPads, my students will begin to see themselves as true learners in a small community. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long learners. Thank you!
